It may well go down as one of the best Munster hurling finals in recent decades. Unfortunately, in sport there ultimately has to be a loser. On Sunday evening it was my native county who went home with the inaugural Mick Mackey Cup, while my adoptive county fell agonisingly short.

Watching each and every one of the lads heroically and courageously die in their boots filled me with a sense of pride that I have never felt in my life to date. Even as a very proud Limerick man, the heartbreak of the loss is no less.

It is an absolute privilege to be involved with such an amazing panel of lads. Roll on the All-Ireland series. An Clar Abu!!!
