On a very challenging weekend on account of the mercury levels, a number of MYP athletes took to the roads and posted very strong performances.

 

On Saturday, five athletes took on the big challenge of Quest Lough Derg. Martina Moloney finished 10th female in the expert event – a magnificent performance which builds on here strong performances throughout the Summer. In the sport event, Nicholas Moloney finished in 3 hours 40 minutes – a fantastic time in only his second ever adventure race. Brothers Cathal and Cormac Mullane also performed very well in the sport event, as they continue their build up to the Dublin marathon.

 

On Sunday, three athletes took part in the Charleville half marathon. Podge Hogan finished in a PB of 1:23:30, an excellent performance after recent illness. Hot on his heels, Sean O’Leary ran an excellent PB of. 1:24:17 While Carolann Keenehan finished in a brilliant time of 2:23, taking almost 20 minutes off her recent times in the Kilkee and Banna half marathons.

 

Also on Sunday, Shane O’Connell ran a 5 mile PB of 32:39 in the Tulla 5 mile road race.
